Frequently Asked Questions

If you cannot find an answer to your question, please contact our customer service team on 0203 805 1781.

Symptoms

I have COVID-19 symptoms and need to see a GP?

We’re here to make it as easy as possible for you to see a GP even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our GPs are making home visits for those with COVID-19 symptoms (at the standard home visit rate).  If you do have any flu like symptoms, or simply want additional reassurance please let our customer service team know when booking, and we will despatch a COVID-19 visiting GP with highly specialised PPE.

We can also see you remotely via video or telephone at standard rates.

Do I have COVID-19?

If you are currently experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, a GP will assess your symptoms via video consult and prescribe a PCR test to determine whether you have the virus. Results and a plan for care are delivered via GP tele-consult.

We can also carry out PCR tests for asymptomatic patients should they need to ascertain whether or not they are carrying the virus, i.e. a safe return to the workplace, visiting vulnerable relatives or obtaining fit to fly certification.

Do I have the COVID-19 antibody?

Antibody testing detects antibodies in your blood which indicates whether you have previously contracted the virus.  This test is only effective when conducted more than 14 days after detecting symptoms.

Can you test multiple people in the same household?

Yes, please contact our customer service team on 0203 805 1781 to organise.

Can children take the test?

Yes, we can test children, although younger children may find the test a little distressing and we’d recommend that it is administered by a clinician.

Testing Process

Can I return to work?

GPDQ’s risk stratification tool calculates your risk in relation to COVID-19 based on a mental and physical health assessment form. A GP will explain your risk level via tele-consult.

How long does it take to receive my results?

As soon as the lab receives your sample, we will ensure your result gets to you within 24-48 hours.

Are tests available nationwide?

Yes, we offer self-tests by post, nationwide. Clinician-led testing at your home or in a clinic is location dependent. Call our Customer Support team to find your nearest clinician-led testing service: 0203 805 1781.

How are home tests delivered?

Royal Mail Track 24 (Standard delivery)

Tests for England, Scotland and Wales are dispatched into Royal Mail Tracked 24 hour service on the same day for orders placed before 12pm and the day after for orders received after 12pm.  The ‘Tracked 24’ service aims to deliver the next working day but this is not guaranteed. If you order a test on Friday, or over the weekend, it will be dispatched on Monday.

Please also be aware that Royal Mail is only delivering on weekdays and not Saturdays at present and unfortunately, we cannot guarantee Royal Mail delivery timescales. Tests for NI are shipped 2 days after order. We are unable to ship to any other locations.

Courier Service

We can organise a courier service on request.

How do I collect a sample?

The sample requires you to take a swab from your nose and throat, full instructions are included in your test kit.  If you’d prefer for a clinician to take the sample we can organise for one to come to your house or you can visit a clinic.

What type of test is it?

We use a PHE approved SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) reverse transcriptase real-time PCR swab. This is accepted by most major airlines.  If you require something specific please contact our customer service team, it’s likely we can help.

Travel

How does a COVID-19 fit to fly assessment work?

Patients can have a self-test kit dispatched to their home/ office address or visit a clinic. These tests are then collected by courier who will deliver them to the laboratory.  Results will be received in 48 hours from the return of the sample and you will be notified by email.

My airline requires a fit to fly certificate or negative COVID-19 PCR swab test within a specific time of departure. Is this possible?

Yes, take your test as early as possible, for example if the airline requires a test to be taken no more than 72 hours before departure then do it then. GPs and testing are available from 8am-11pm, 7 days a week. If you wish to visit a clinic, please contact customer service on 0203 805 1781 who will help you to find the closest one and organise an appointment.

I need to obtain my fit to fly certificate in the evening/at the weekend?

We’re open from 8am-11pm, 7 days a week and offer testing.

Can you include specific information on the fit to fly certificate?

Yes please book your test then email support@gpdq.co.uk with your request, i.e. please include my passport number.

What date is shown on the fit to fly assessment?

The assessment shows the date/time the sample was taken. It also shows the date and time your results report was generated.

Can I get a certificate without a test?

We can provide fit to fly assessments for other health concerns, but many airlines require COVID-19 test results. Please check requirements with your airline directly.

Are your test result certificates suitable for travel?

Yes, our test result certificates are valid proof of testing when traveling anywhere.
